Vivid impressionist paintings, Lyrical and Imaginative
Australian fine art, abstractions land and seascapes.
Judith paints from ideas and her imagination. Her expressive abstract images are not bound by subject matter or medium but flow through acrylic, water colour, mixed media and collage, often incorporating oil sticks, pastels and inks.
Judith is an exceptional colourist, with her own unique and expressive style. Her interpretive thought processes and consummate colour control show her passion and the ability to stimulate the imagination.
“I believe in pushing the boundaries of my imagination and creating works of art meaningful to myself and hoping others may involve themselves in my journey of the mind. I am passionate about painting and all aspects of art.’
The quote, “I do not believe we should explain our art too much – just do it”, is a part of my philosophy.

At the Holdsworth Contemporary Galleries, Judith Laws, floods the world with luscious hues in watercolour and crayons employed with sustained and consummate skill. Her orange sun rotates in a green sky. A bejewelled marine world, a faded orange desert traces by meandering tracks, a nude growing like a flower in a fleshy bouquet are about making the voluptuous transcendent.

Laws has always followed her own star aesthetically and in terms of style. Her adherence to vibrant, opalescent and jewel-like colours, is a natural consequence of her Queensland background, and of her practice of taking inspiration from tropical and sub-tropical environments.
